Roy Bradshaw - Children’s Book Author

Having lived in Shropshire for over half a lifetime, Roy Bradshaw draws inspiration from its beautiful landscapes for a captivating series of children’s stories. With a background that includes careers as a metallurgist, automotive engineer, and educator, Roy has published multiple novels, poetry, and children’s books. The Barley’s Biscuit project, initially intended as a pair of books, has expanded into a planned twelve-book series, with numerous already published, each set against the picturesque backdrop of Shropshire.

Roy has expanded on this, creating other stories and characters, developing a number of children’s books that captivate imaginations using significant landmarks from the area to tell the tales of his characters.

Buildwas Academy:

“Thank you for giving Oak class a lovely afternoon. Here is my review!

Roy related well to the children and set a task that kept them challenged and motivated. They left school at the end of the day feeling excited to have met a real author, talking about their plans to research his books and buy them!”

“We had a great time yesterday so thank you very much for coming out.

Buildwas Review – The Keystage one children enjoyed the workshop. They found Mr Bradshaw very engaging and loved the story about Konk the crocodile. They had a fantastic time creating 2D and 3D crocodile models and were very pleased with their end creations and how they linked to the story. Would definitely recommend!

Thank you for such a great day, the children loved it.”

Oakmeadow C of E Primary and Nursery School:

“What a lovely visit we had from the local author Roy Bradshaw. Roy read Konk the crocodile and his very long snout. The children in KS1 loved the story. Roy gave them lots of opportunities to guess which part of the crocodile would be painted next. The children loved creating their own crocodile in the 2D and 3D model workshops which followed on from the story. We had a great response to book purchases and Roy has personalised and signed them all.”

Dear Roy

I have some feedback for you as requested and I have shared your message with the year 3 and 4 teachers.

“We found that the children were engaged with the creative side of things. They loved making their own Konk the crocodile. As well as listening to him read one of his own stories.”

With best wishes,
